On April 1, Muhamedzhan Tynyshpaev ALT University transformed into an authentic Kazakh village! The campus was filled with traditional yurts, national games, and festive performances, as students and guests gathered to celebrate “Unity and Prosperity”, a vibrant Naurlz festival.

The Grand Caravan Arrives: A Festive Spectacle Begins

The highlight of the celebration was the arrival of a theatrical nomadic caravan—not just a performance, but a vivid journey into the rich heritage of the Kazakh people.

Leading the procession was Kydyr Ata, bringing blessings of prosperity and happiness. Behind him followed stilt walkers, jugglers, fire performers, folk ensembles, grandmothers in traditional attire, warriors, and dance groups. Each act captivated the audience, bringing joy and excitement to the festivities.

ALT Village: A Walk Through History

A series of beautifully decorated yurts, each named after ancient Kazakh cities, were set up on campus. Guests were welcomed inside, treated to traditional Kazakh delicacies like kumys, baursaks, and national dishes, and immersed in the hospitality of the Kazakh people.

“Bride’s Competition”: Honoring Family Traditions

Naurlz is not just about the arrival of spring—it is a time to cherish family values. This year, ALT University hosted the “Bride’s Competition”, where young women showcased their skills in traditional arts such as tying the oramal (headscarf), pouring tea, preparing national dishes, and demonstrating knowledge of customs. Each participant received a special title and unique gifts.

“ALT Barysy-2025”: A Battle of Strength

For the first time in the university’s history, a Kazakh wrestling tournament, “ALT Barysy-2025”, was held. Around 50 wrestlers took to the mat, engaging in intense battles to the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd. The best competitors were rewarded with prestigious prizes and certificates.

Traditional Games: A Celebration of Heritage

No Naurlz celebration would be complete without traditional Kazakh games. Participants of all ages enjoyed asyk atu (knucklebone shooting), langa (kickball), tug-of-war, arm wrestling, and kettlebell lifting. Students, faculty, and guests took part, making it a truly immersive experience.

Naurlz: A New Beginning!

The “Unity and Prosperity” festival turned ALT University into a true Kazakh village, bringing history, culture, and national identity to life.

Naurlz is a time of friendship, renewal, and unity, and this year’s celebration at ALT will remain a cherished memory for everyone who experienced its warmth and spirit!
