On March 5 of the current year, the university hosted the official opening ceremony of the International Year of Volunteers with the support of the Youth Policy Department and the participation of youth organizations. This large-scale forum was aimed at increasing youth civic engagement, promoting the culture of volunteering, and strengthening cooperation among youth organizations.
The main objective of the event was to enhance partnerships between youth organizations, support student initiatives, strengthen the capacity of public organizations, and discuss the priority areas of the city’s youth policy. Within the framework of the forum, discussion platforms were organized and social projects of youth organizations were presented. These platforms provided active young people with an opportunity to exchange experience, encourage new initiatives, and develop ideas aimed at benefiting society.
The forum brought together student organizations from higher education institutions, representatives of the volunteer movement, active youth, and experts who shared their opinions and ideas. The event was also attended by the Deputy Akim of Almaty Abzal Nukenov, who expressed his support for youth initiatives.
During the event, an active student of our university Dana Nurzhankyzy Rustembekova participated as a speaker. She shared her views on the role of youth in society, the importance of volunteerism, and the contribution of student initiatives to social development.
The forum became an important platform for increasing youth civic engagement and fostering a culture of mutual support and responsibility in society. In addition, this initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 4 – Quality Education, promoting knowledge and experience exchange among youth;
- SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, engaging youth in social life;
- SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, strengthening civil society;
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, enhancing cooperation between youth organizations and government institutions
Such meaningful meetings not only support youth initiatives but also strengthen their contribution to the development of society. Active, educated, and responsible youth are the guarantee of a bright future for the country.
