On February 26, 2026, the department held a round table discussion on the topic “Implementation of MOOCs in the Educational Process.” The event was aimed at discussing the possibilities of integrating Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) into academic programs and their role in improving the quality of student training.

The speaker was K.A. Beisenbayeva, Associate Professor of the Department of General Engineering. In her presentation, she emphasized that the implementation of MOOCs is an important step toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 4 “Quality Education,” which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The report highlighted the key advantages of using MOOCs in the educational process:

  • Expanding access to modern educational resources;

  • Integrating courses from leading universities into academic programs;

  • Forming individual learning pathways for students;

  • Developing digital competencies and self-directed learning skills;

  • Increasing students’ academic mobility.

Special attention was paid to methodological support for students taking online courses, mechanisms for the recognition and credit transfer of learning outcomes, as well as the alignment of MOOC content with state educational standards. The event confirmed the department’s commitment to implementing innovative educational technologies and strengthening the principles of quality and accessible education in accordance with global sustainable development priorities.
