With the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Almaty City Administration (Akimat), the Student Crisis Center hosted at ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev enters its fourth consecutive year of operation. In 2026, the center will continue its mission as an integral part of Almaty’s student support system.
The center is located in Student Residence Hall No. 1 at ALT University (108 Maulenov Street, Almaty) and has a total capacity of 50 beds.
The facility is designed for university students in need of temporary housing, alongside supplementary social, psychological, or advisory support. Services are accessible to students enrolled in any higher education institution in Almaty, regardless of their university affiliation.
Students requiring temporary accommodation can reach out to the Situation Center via the designated hotlines. Specialists evaluate each application to determine whether housing can first be provided by the student’s own university.
If the student’s home university is unable to offer accommodation, they may be referred to the Crisis Center at ALT University for temporary residence, subject to bed availability and approval by responsible administrators.
This procedure ensures students are secured with short-term lodging while their permanent housing arrangements are being resolved, preventing any disruption to their academic studies.
The Crisis Center is fully equipped to meet students’ living, study, and personal needs. It features living quarters with dedicated study and domestic zones, kitchenette modules, and essential furniture. Additional amenities include modern sanitary facilities, a gymnasium, and a medical post providing primary healthcare services.
During their stay, students have access to confidential psychological counseling, social aid, and legal/administrative guidance. All requests are handled with strict adherence to privacy and personalized care.
