The Atakent Exhibition Center in Almaty recently hosted two landmark international events in the energy and nuclear sectors: Powerexpo Almaty 2026 and Kazatomexpo 2026. Students from the IPS(T)-23-2 group attended this large-scale event as part of a specialized “field lecture” gaining crucial insights for their future professional careers. The delegation was led by Associate Professor G. K. Ashirbayev.
Key highlights of the field experience included:
Innovative Technologies: Students explored cutting-edge products, modern electrical equipment, power machinery, and digital solutions showcased by over 240 leading companies from 10+ countries.
The Future of Nuclear Energy: At the Kazatomexpo platform, participants received first-hand insights from industry experts on nuclear technologies and safe energy sources—a sector of vital strategic importance for Kazakhstan.
Professional Networking: Students engaged directly with representatives from domestic and international engineering firms to discuss internships, practical training, and future employment opportunities.
Events that bridge the gap between theory and real-world practice offer invaluable pathways for professional growth. The future belongs to energy efficiency and green technologies, and our students are the ones who will build it! 🚀
Aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The students’ participation directly contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 4: Quality Education – Gaining industry insights from global experts outside the classroom and experiencing technological trends firsthand elevates the quality of practical education.
SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – Powerexpo and Kazatomexpo focus on enhancing energy efficiency and advancing both traditional and low-carbon (nuclear and renewable) clean energy sources.
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – Students immersed themselves in industrial innovation, discovering new solutions for energy engineering, digitalization, and utility infrastructure modernization.
SDG 13: Climate Action – Nuclear power and energy-efficient technologies are vital to reducing global CO2 emissions. By mastering eco-safe energy generation, these future specialists are driving meaningful climate action.
