The second day of the Youth Logistics Forum-2026 focused on practical industry exposure and featured an industrial visit to the Alstom manufacturing plant.
Kazakhstan plays a strategic role as a key transport link on the New Silk Road, connecting Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Russia. The country’s railway network, operating on the 1520 mm gauge, spans approximately 21,000 km, making it one of the largest in the world and creating a significant infrastructure market.
Alstom is the only manufacturer of electric locomotives and switch drives in Central Asia and the Caucasus and serves as a key contributor to the modernization of the railway industry and regional economic development.
During the visit, participants explored the full production cycle of Kazakhstani electric locomotives — from component assembly to final testing and commissioning. Special attention was given to innovation, automation, and energy-efficient technologies in railway transport.
This hands-on experience enabled students to deepen their understanding of real industrial processes and future trends in railway logistics.
