From September 17 to October 10, 2025, a professional development program for university executives of Kazakhstan was successfully implemented at ALT University named after M. Tynyshpayev in Almaty. The program focused on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education and science.
The training aimed to develop competencies essential for digital transformation and to strengthen the digital maturity of universities. The program was delivered in a blended format, combining online modules with in-person sessions.
The initiative was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MSHE RK), the Association of Universities of Kazakhstan, and ALT University.
The final in-person stage took place on October 9–10 at ALT University and brought together over 100 participants from 40 universities across Kazakhstan, including rectors, vice-rectors, and heads of university departments.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by R.A. Alshanov, President of the Association of Universities of Kazakhstan, and M.S. Zharmagambetova, Chair of the Board and Rector of ALT University.
During the training, university leaders gained knowledge and explored:
- international and national best practices in the use of AI in education and science;
- practical cases of AI application in university management;
- modern tools of digital marketing;
- opportunities for business process optimization through AI.
Speakers included representatives of leading technology companies such as Microsoft and Yandex Qazaqstan, as well as experts from EDUTech Future (Singapore), UNICEF, and specialists in digital technologies and educational management. A key component of the training was the development of practical use-cases for AI implementation, enabling participants to design actionable digitalization solutions for their institutions.
Among the keynote speakers were Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and Vice Minister Gulzat Kobenova. The Minister emphasized that the integration of AI is a crucial factor for enhancing the competitiveness of the national education system and highlighted the importance of training professionals in the field of artificial intelligence.
Upon completion of the program, participants received certificates and letters of appreciation. The program became an important platform for experience exchange, the development of new digital transformation strategies, and the strengthening of collaboration between universities and leading AI experts.
