On May 31, a solemn ceremony was held at the ALT University named after M. Tynyshpaev in honor of the “Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression and Famine” – laying flowers at the monument to Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpaev.
It is worth noting that on May 31, Kazakhstan has been celebrating the “Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression and Famine” since 1997. One of the darkest pages of history is political repression. Citizens of all member countries of the Soviet Union were subjected to it. During the period from 1921 to 1954, the total number of political convicts in the entire Union reached 3 million 777 thousand. Of these, as a result of the “policy of identifying enemies of the people”, 100 thousand people were convicted in Kazakhstan, 25 thousand of them were sentenced to capital punishment – execution.
During these years, Mukhamedzhan Tynyshpaev, Turar Ryskulov, Alikhan Bokeikhanov, Beimbet Mailin, Magzhan Zhumabayev, Akhmet Baitursynov, Abdulla Rozybakiev, Magazy Masanchi, Ilyas Zhansugurov, Saken Seifullin, Sanzhar Asfendiyarov, Khalel Dosmukhanbetov, Zhakhansha Dosmukhanbetov and other prominent figures of Kazakhstan were shot. Their works and the paved road to “freedom” will remain forever in the history and in the hearts of the Kazakh people.
