On September 25, 2024 representatives from the “Information Interpretation Group of the Republic of Kazakhstan” came to a meeting with students of ALT University and held a conversation on the topic: “Religious literacy among young people and protection from other religious movements.“ The speakers were professors of the University Nur-Mubarak Asylkeney Askaruly and Abdullaev Yerzhan.
The speakers spoke about the problem of the spiritual and legal development of the future generation in modern society. It is important to understand and study religion as an integral part of humanistic education. The present and the future of the nation are in the hands of an educated young man. Moreover, only a generation with a deep knowledge of history, which has absorbed the spiritual values of the nation, can shape the future of the country. But time sets new tasks and goals. Today, in the eyes of young people, religion occupies a high position as a propagator of spiritual and moral ideals and a guardian of cultural traditions. Through the increase of religious literacy, a person‘s attitude towards society and the environment is formed, and the phenomenon of maturity is realized. Therefore, the role of religious literacy in the positive development of human consciousness becomes important. Currently, in order to increase religious literacy among converted youth, the number of visitors visiting Islamic States in search of learning has increased. Islam does not create contradictions to the traditional positions, peculiarities, and values of Kazakh society. The guests of the University answered the students’ questions in detail.
