On November 25, 2024, ALT University together with the German company ThiemeBieg & Associates GmbH held the First Round Table on the topic of “Creation of a regional logistics cluster in Almaty and Almaty region”. Representatives of industry, business and education participated in this event.
At the round table, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Matthias Kiesler, emphasizing the unique geographical location of Kazakhstan, noted that there is a great need to create a logistics cluster in Almaty and the Almaty region, which will be the first in Kazakhstan. The development of modern logistics was also discussed and German colleagues – Professor Dietrich Tess from Technische Universität Chemnitz, Dr. Thomas Stachlecker from Fraunhofer ISI and Professor Burghard Scheel, who is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the East European Society, shared their experience in creating clusters in Germany, noting that 13 clusters are currently operating. Representatives of various industries, but closely related to logistics, expressed their opinions on the creation of this cluster and solution of the main actual problems in logistics.
The proposal to create a logistics cluster is to position the city of Almaty and the Almaty region as a leading innovative logistics region, which will contribute to increasing labor productivity and employment, strengthening the region’s economy by stimulating innovation and improving cooperation between universities and businesses.
