At M. Tynyshpaev ALT University, an informal yet impactful meeting took place with Mr. Vladimir Turekhanov, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics (KAAR). The visit was initiated by Tomiris Omarova, CAD instructor in mechanical engineering and head of the Robotics Mechanical Engineering Lab.
As part of the visit, Mr. Turekhanov explored the lab’s ongoing work, where students and faculty are implementing cutting-edge projects in robotics and mechanical engineering.
During the meeting, both sides discussed potential areas for collaboration, ultimately reaching an agreement to partner on joint scientific research, knowledge exchange, and laboratory modernization. The guest acknowledged the strong potential of ALT University as an academic platform for applied engineering and innovation.
A highlight of the visit was the open dialogue with the KAAR president, who shared his insights into the state of robotics in Kazakhstan. He outlined current initiatives and university-based startups, emphasizing the importance of connecting science with industry. Discussions explored how ALT University could contribute to collaborative research, prototyping, and the development of lab infrastructure.
As a result of the meeting, ALT University officially joined the Kazakhstan Association of Automation and Robotics — opening new perspectives for:
- joint startup and research initiatives,
- exchange of expertise between universities and industry partners,
- technical upgrades of the lab and broader academic cooperation.
There were also discussions about launching innovative research projects within the university and expanding work in robotics and mechanical engineering, involving students in applied research.
“It was a truly inspiring and productive conversation. I believe a promising and fruitful collaboration lies ahead,” noted Tomiris Omarova after the meeting.
