History of the department

In 1976, the Almaty branch of the Tashkent Institute of Railway Transport Engineers was transformed into the Almaty Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (AIRE). At the same time, with the opening of AIRE, the Department of “Track and Construction Production” was established, where engineers specializing in 1209 – “Industrial and Civil Construction” and railway transport engineers specializing in 1210 – “Railway Construction, Track and Track Facilities” were trained.

In 1977, based on the Department of “Track and Construction Production,” two departments were established:

  1. Department of “Track and Track Facilities”
  2. Department of “Industrial and Civil Construction”

In 1996, the Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications named after M. Tynyshpaev was established on the basis of the Almaty Institute of Railway Transport Engineers and the Almaty Automobile and Road Institute.

In the period 1978–2008, the Department of “Track and Track Facilities” trained railway transport engineers specializing in “Railway Construction, Track and Track Facilities.”

In 1984, postgraduate studies were opened for the first time at the Department of “Track and Track Facilities.”
