History of the department

In order to implement the strategic objectives of the transport market, on the initiative of the leadership of the Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communication named after M. Tynyshpayev, on August 26, 2004, the department “Transport Logistics” was established by order No. 331 to train specialists in a new scientific and practical direction in the field of improving the transportation process in intermodal and multimodal transportation, as well as in the field of freight forwarding services in transport. The first head of the department was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor E. E. Karsybaev. The department produced specialized personnel in the specialty 3001.04-Organization of transportation (specialization-Organization of transportation in international transportation).

On May 29, 2009, by order No. 151, the department received a new name “Logistics in Transport”. The specialty Logistics (by industry) is included in the classifier of specialties of higher and postgraduate education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved and put into effect by the order of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 20, 2009. No. 131-od.

The heads of the departments were such employees of the Academy as Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Izteleuova M. S., Doctor of Economics, Professor Mukhametzhanova A.V., Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Asilbekova I. Zh., Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate professor Kenzhebaeva G. Zh., Candidate of Technical Sciences  Musalieva R. D., Izbairova A. S.

From September 2021 to the present day, the Department of Transport Logistics and Management is headed by Associate Professor Musalieva R. D. 

The activity of the department “Logistics in Transport” is aimed at training modern, competent managers for the provision of transport and logistics services, the organization of international transportation, who are able to carry out professional activities and solve non-standard tasks in transport. The huge opportunities and prospects of the Central Asian region and Kazakhstan in the organization of foreign trade transportation are supported by the transport and logistics infrastructure and the work of specialists in this field who know the general principles of transport logistics management based on the use of advanced equipment and technology.

The ideological orientation of the department’s activities is determined by the tasks arising from the President’s address to the people of Kazakhstan, the decisions of the Government and the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the implementation of the industrial and innovative development strategy, in particular, improving the transport and logistics infrastructure, increasing the information and technological level of transportation activities in the transport and logistics segment, in the use of theoretical foundations, studied disciplines, in production conditions.

The main task of the Department of Transport Logistics and Management is to provide educational services for the training of competent, highly erudite, competitive and in-demand specialists for the transport and communication complex of the state.

The educational programs of the department are aimed at training specialists with the award of the academic degree “Bachelor in services”, “Master in services and sciences” and “Doctor of PhD and Doctor of PhD in services”.

The department has an educational and laboratory base and a Logistics Center to provide training, retraining and advanced training of personnel in demand on the labor market.

In order to implement the requirements of credit technology of training, the Department of Logistics and Management in Transport is working to attract foreign scientists: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor from the Technical University “Wildau” (Berlin, Germany), Dietrich Werner Tess; Candidate of Technical Sciences, associate professor from the Siberian State University of Railway Transport (Novosibirsk, Russia) Klimov Alexander Alexandrovich; Associate Professor, PhD, head of the Department “Technology, Organization and Management in Transport” of the Todor Kableshkov Karagyozov Higher Transport University Kirill Stanev (Novosibirsk, Russia). Sofia, Bulgaria), etc.

The department cooperates with large companies of JSC “NC “KTZ-Cargo transportation”, the Association of National Freight Forwarders of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “NC KTZ” “AMMTP”, LLP “KTZE Khorgos Gateway”, JSC “Ozenmunaygas”, freight forwarding companies “Atasu”, LLP “Atameken”, LLP “Almaty Dostyk-Express”, LLP “STLC” (Shyngar Trans Logistics Company)”, LLP “TRANSIT KAZAKHSTAN”, LLP “ZINURTRADE”, “Damu logistics” LLP for passing production and research practices of students.

To further establish a strategic link between education, science and production, the Department of Transport Logistics has signed a cooperation agreement with the Kazakh-German University (KNU), which is the coordinator of the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (Germany) in the project “Communication and Transfer Center Logistics” (“LogCentre”), and work is also underway to implement the project of the European Commission program “ERASMUS+” on the topic “Development of a master’s program based on the Bologna principles on resource-efficient production logistics (PRODLOG)”.
